The most valuable player in OlyBet Latvian-Estonian Basketball League Final Four was named BK “Ventspils” guard Rihards Lomažs. Lomažs and Ingus Jakovičs (both BK “Ventspils”) was named to the Allstar Five of the tournament with Steve Zack (“VEF Rīga”), Chavaughn Lewis (“Kalev/Cramo”) and Kristaps Dārgais (BK “Ogre”).

“My biggest achievement is the gold for the team – everything else is secondary. Today I felt the game by scoring some of the first shots. I think that helped to push team forward.”

“In the beginning I saw that we were coming slow in the game, so I started to take the initiative on myself,” says Lomažs. “All season I was called the team leader so now it was the right time to prove it. If I haven’t done it, I would probably regret it all my life.”

On a question at which point he realized that “VEF” will no longer threaten victory, Lomažs pointed out that it was on the last three minutes of the game: “You could see that they were getting their hands down a little bit. It’s normal, but then we felt that everything will be alright. But the real signal was final-buzzer, then we realized – we are the champions!”
